Using Google Tag Manager for Enhanced E-Commerce

USING GOOGLE TAG MANAGER FOR ENHANCED E-COMMERCE

To setup Google Tag Manager please login to Tag Manager.

Click on “Create Account”

  • In ACCOUNT SETUP section
    • Enter name of Account (For example, YOUR SHOP NAME)
    • Select Country
  • In CONTAINER SETUP section
    • Enter Container name (For example, YOUR_SHOP_URL)
    • Select “WEB” in next option and click create.

Copy Container ID as shown in below image and enter it in plugin options => Google Tag Manager ID.

To create Required Tags to use with Enhanced E-commerce please Click on container name setup in above instructions and use below instructions for each Tag. (Please remember to create tags exactly same as in below instructions).

To enable product impressions (Product VIEWS) tracking on all shop pages –
Click on Add New Tag

· Enter Tag Name (Something easy to remember for you in Analytics reports (For example: Product View on all pages) in top left corner of slide in panel.

· Click on “Tag Configuration” container.

o Choose “Google Analytics – Universal Analytics” as Tag type.

o Choose “Page View” as Tag type.

o Check “Enable overriding settings in this tag” checkbox.

o Click on “More Settings”

§ Click on “Ecommerce” in dropdown.

§ Select “True” in Enable enhanced ecommerce feature and select “Use Data Layer” Checkbox.

· Click on “Triggering” container

o Click on “ ” button in top right corner.

§ Enter Trigger name in top left corner (Easily understandable simple name).

§ Click Trigger Configuration and select “DOM Ready” from the list.

§ Select “All DOM events” in next option This trigger fires on

§ Click “Save” button.

To enable product Add to Card tracking –

Click on Add New Tag

· Enter Tag Name (Something easy to remember for you in Analytics reports (For example: PRODUCT ADD TO CART) in top left corner of slide in panel.

· Click on “Tag Configuration” container.

o Choose “Google Analytics – Universal Analytics” as Tag type.

o Choose “Event” as Tag type.

o Enter Category “Ecommerce”

o Enter Action “Add to Cart”

o Enter Label of your choice.

o Check “Enable overriding settings in this tag” checkbox.

o Click on “More Settings”

§ Click on “Ecommerce” in dropdown.

§ Select “True” in Enable enhanced ecommerce feature and select “Use Data Layer” checkbox.

· Click on “Triggering” container

o Click on “ ” button in top right corner.

§ Enter Trigger name in top left corner (Easily understandable simple name).

§ Click Trigger Configuration and select “Custom Event” from the list.

§ Enter “tcbAddToCart” in Event name

§ Select “All DOM events” in next option This trigger fires on

§ Click “Save” button.

To enable product Add to Card tracking –
Click on Add New Tag

· Enter Tag Name (Something easy to remember for you in Analytics reports (For example: PRODUCT REMOVE FROM CART) in top left corner of slide in panel.

· Click on “Tag Configuration” container.

o Choose “Google Analytics – Universal Analytics” as Tag type.

o Choose “Event” as Tag type.

o Enter Category “Ecommerce”

o Enter Action “Remove from Cart”

o Enter Label of your choice.

o Check “Enable overriding settings in this tag” checkbox.

o Click on “More Settings”

§ Click on “Ecommerce” in dropdown.

§ Select “True” in Enable enhanced ecommerce feature and select “Use Data Layer” checkbox.

· Click on “Triggering” container

o Click on “ ” button in top right corner.

§ Enter Trigger name in top left corner (Easily understandable simple name).

§ Click Trigger Configuration and select “Custom Event” from the list.

§ Enter “tcbRemoveFromCartEvent Name

§ Select “All Custom Events” in next option This trigger fires on

§ Click “Save” button.

To enable product Add to Card tracking –

Click on Add New Tag

· Enter Tag Name (Something easy to remember for you in Analytics reports (For example: PRODUCT ADD TO CART) in top left corner of slide in panel.

· Click on “Tag Configuration” container.

o Choose “Google Analytics – Universal Analytics” as Tag type.

o Choose “Event” as Tag type.

o Enter Category “Ecommerce”

o Enter Action “Product click”

o Enter Label of your choice.

o Check “Enable overriding settings in this tag” checkbox.

o Click on “More Settings”

§ Click on “Ecommerce” in dropdown.

§ Select “True” in Enable enhanced ecommerce feature and select “Use Data Layer” checkbox.

· Click on “Triggering” container

o Click on “ ” button in top right corner.

§ Enter Trigger name in top left corner (Easily understandable simple name).

§ Click Trigger Configuration and select “Custom Event” from the list.

§ Enter “tcbProductClickEvent Name

§ Select “All Custom Events” in next option This trigger fires on

§ Click “Save” button.

To enable Checkout process tracking –

Click on Add New Tag

· Enter Tag Name (Something easy to remember for you in Analytics reports (For example: CHECKOUT) in top left corner of slide in panel.

· Click on “Tag Configuration” container.

o Choose “Google Analytics – Universal Analytics” as Tag type.

o Choose “Event” as Track type.

o Enter Category “Ecommerce”

o Enter Action “Checkout”

o Enter Label of your choice.

o Check “Enable overriding settings in this tag” checkbox.

o Click on “More Settings”

§ Click on “Ecommerce” in dropdown.

§ Select “True” in Enable enhanced ecommerce feature and select “Use Data Layer” checkbox.

· Click on “Triggering” container

o Click on “ ” button in top right corner.

§ Enter Trigger name in top left corner (Easily understandable simple name).

§ Click Trigger Configuration and select “Custom Event” from the list.

§ Enter “tcbCheckout” in Event name

§ Select “All DOM events” in next option This trigger fires on

§ Click “Save” button.

To enable purchase tracking –

Click on Add New Tag

· Enter Tag Name (Something easy to remember for you in Analytics reports (For example: FINISH PURCHASE) in top left corner of slide in panel.

· Click on “Tag Configuration” container.

o Choose “Google Analytics – Universal Analytics” as Tag type.

o Choose “Page View” as Tag type.

o Check “Enable overriding settings in this tag” checkbox.

o Click on “More Settings”

§ Click on “Ecommerce” in dropdown.

§ Select “True” in Enable enhanced ecommerce feature and select “Use Data Layer” checkbox.

· Click on “Triggering” container

o Click on “ ” button in top right corner.

§ Enter Trigger name in top left corner (Easily understandable simple name).

§ Click Trigger Configuration and select “Custom Event” from the list.

§ Enter “tcbPurchaseEvent Name

§ Select “All Custom Events” in next option This trigger fires on

§ Click “Save” button.

To enable promotion impressions (Shopping World Banners, Banner Slider (For each slide), Category Teaser, Category Banner) tracking –
Click on Add New Tag

·Enter Tag Name (Something easy to remember for you in Analytics reports (For example: Product View on all pages) in top left corner of slide in panel.

·Click on“Tag Configuration”container.

oChoose “Google Analytics – Universal Analytics” asTag type.

oChoose “Page View” asTag type.

oCheck “Enable overriding settings in this tag” checkbox.

oClick on “More Settings”

§Click on “Ecommerce” in dropdown.

§Select “True” in Enable enhanced ecommerce feature and select “Use Data Layer” Checkbox.

·Click on“Triggering”container

oClick on “ ” button in top right corner.

§Enter Trigger name in top left corner (Easily understandable simple name).

§Click Trigger Configuration and select “Custom Event” from the list.

§enter “tcbPromotionin” Event name.

§Select “All Custom Events” in next optionThis trigger fires on

§Click “Save” button.

To enable promotion click tracking –
Click on Add New Tag

·        Enter Tag Name (Something easy to remember for you in Analytics reports (For example: PROMOTION CLICK) in top left corner of slide in panel.

·        Click on “Tag Configuration” container.

o   Choose “Google Analytics – Universal Analytics” as Tag type.

o   Choose “Event” as Tag type.

o   Enter Category “Ecommerce”

o   Enter Action “Promotion Click”

o   Enter Label of your choice.

o   Check “Enable overriding settings in this tag” checkbox.

o   Click on “More Settings”

§  Click on “Ecommerce” in dropdown.

§  Select “True” in Enable enhanced ecommerce feature and select “Use Data Layer” checkbox.

·        Click on “Triggering” container

o   Click on “+” button in top right corner.

§  Enter Trigger name in top left corner (Easily understandable simple name).

§  Click Trigger Configuration and select “Custom Event” from the list.

§  Enter “tcbPromotionClickEvent Name

§  Select “All Custom Events” in next option This trigger fires on

§  Click “Save” button.
